Title
Avro suspender belt, 1935: Flower detail
Description
Flower detail from an Avro suspender belt of 1935.

Tea rose pink satin suspender belt lined with cotton. It has a hookside fastening, elastic side panels, two light bones at the front and four adjustable suspenders.

Suspender belts were first introduced in 1906, but proved unpopular and were withdrawn from the market. They were re-introduced in the late 1920s and were an enormous success, their popularity peaking in the 1930s.

This particular design sold in enormous numbers and continued to be produced until the mid 1960s.
