Title
Avro Regal corselet, 1972
Description
This distinctive printed corselet was produced in 1972 and belonged to the Regal collection, part of Symington's Avro range, designed exclusively for the larger figure.

The corselet was an introductory experiment to the range and incorporated a new fabric printing process. The multi-coloured designs were first printed onto paper using a special ink, then transferred onto the fabric using heated rollers.

However, the market for larger foundation garments preferred traditional white or tea rose pink and this experimental use of bold fabrics was discontinued after a year.

The corselet has a zip at the centre front for ease of fastening and has supported undercups of nylon taffeta. It has wide elastic shoulder straps, four v-type suspenders and moderate boning down the back.
