Title
L1008 - Contractors' 0-6-0 saddletank locomotive, AMERSHAM.
Description
L1008 - Manning Wardle & Co. 'I' class 0-6-0 saddletank, AMERSHAM, (No. 129 of 1864). The locomotive is pictured with its three crew members when working on Contract No. 7 from Canfield Place to Marylebone. The locomotive was probably owned by J. T. Firbank who built this section of short section of line between 1894 and 1898. The locomotive has been fitted at some time with a semi-enclosed cab, as its doubtful it had this when new. Note the grease gun in the hand of one of the crew.
