Description
0-6-0 contractor's tank engine locomotive, BISHOPSGATE, pictured with her crew at work on the High Wycombe to Northolt stretch of the Great Western & Central Joint Line, circa 1903. Built at Brighton in 1876 to a Stroudley design, BISHOPSGATE was one of four 'Terrier' type engines purchased from the London, Brighton & South Coast Railway in 1902 by Pauling & Co., the contractor responsible for this later section of the Last Main Line.
