Title
Avro pantie corselet, 1969: Side view
Description
Side view of an Avro pantie corselet of 1969, made from an elastane net, with a lined nylon lace front panel and pre-formed bra cups.

The increase in the popularity of tights, which developed from the mid 1960s, helped to bring about important changes in the design of women's underwear. There was now a huge demand for a more practical, all-in-one style garment, without suspenders, that could be worn with a pair of tights.

This white Avro pantie corselet from 1969 was the first corselet designed by Symington to meet this demand. It is made from an elastane net, with a lined nylon lace front panel and pre-formed bra cups. The corselet has a concealed gusset opening with a hook and eye fastening.
