L1716 - Girder underbridge taking the Leicester viaduct over the Grand Union Canal near Northgates, circa 1897. Built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton as part of Contract No.2 (Leake to Aylestone), the viaduct carried the London Extension across much of the city. Note the lattice work iron parapet: a distinctive feature of the Last Main Line.
