Description
L1043 - Manning Wardle & Co. built 'K' class 0-6-0 saddletank, MAINDEE, No. 488 of 1874, pictured in a cutting near Wilford in Nottingham. MAINDEE was working on Contract No. 1 (Annesley to East Leake) being constructed by Logan & Hemingway between 1894 and 1899. This photograph was taken on 22nd May 1897, and a sole crew member poses on the footplate. Note the ornate lining on the locomotive and the telegraph poles in the background.
