Description
L1047 - A Hudswell Clarke of Leeds, 0-6-0 saddletank, WORSLEY, No. 325 built in 1889, pictured (according to S. W. A. Newton's notes) at Shawell in Leicestershire. WORSLEY was working on Contract No. 3 (Aylestone to Rugby) being constructed by Topham, Jones & Railton between 1894 and 1899. This photograph, taken on 20th March 1897, shows two of the crew members, along with another railway worker, posing on the footplate and a third crew member standing on the front buffer beam. Note the rough tracks in the foreground.
