Title
L2231 - Navvies working on trenches at Marylebone
Description
L2231 - Shovels in hand, these navvies are hard at work on excavation trenches near Marylebone Road, London. Despite being the shortest of the seven contracts issued for the construction of the Last Main Line, the two miles from Marylebone to West Hampstead proved to be the most expensive section of the line to build. J.T. Firbank of London Bridge was the firm contracted to take the Railway through the congested capital.
