Title
L1461 - Brick arch tunnel through an embankment, Nottinghamshire
Description
L1461 - Brick arch pedestrian tunnel through an embankment at Stanford-on-Soar, Nottinghamshire, circa 1897. Naturally, the construction of the London Extension obstructed hundreds of roads and paths, and such tunnels, bridges and crossings were built to accommodate these existing rights of way. The contractor responsible for building this section of the Railway (Contract No. 2, Leake to Aylestone) was Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton.
