Description
L1464 - 'Footpath bridge under Meadows, 3rd bridge from Nottingham Road' (S. W. A. Newton's notes). This brick arch pedestrian tunnel was photographed around 1897. The young man in the picture is probably a navvy. The tunnel was built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton, the contractor responsible for this section of the Railway (Contract No. 2, Leake to Aylestone).
