Description
L1080 - An 1890 built, Manning Wardle & Co. 0-6-0 saddletank locomotive, '17', (Works No. 1190) at rest near Carrington, Nottingham, on 24th April 1897. On the platform stand the locomotive's crew and two gentlemen who are perhaps the foreman and contractor. Later in its career, '17' was renamed 'AMESBURY and DUNRAVEN'. Note the steepness of the cutting and the brick built recess.
