The World's Columbian Exposition (also known as the Chicago World's Fair) was held in 1893 to celebrate 400 years since Columbus' arrival in the New World (though that was in 1492). The Transportation Building was designed by architect Louis Sullivan. This image has slight design differences from the finished building- possibly an artist's impression or the design was updated.
