Title
Adaptable front corset, 1926
Description
"Adaptable Front" corset of 1926 for the fuller figure. It was designed to enable the wearer to adjust the garment themselves. It is made from pink broche, with a band of elastic around the top edge, and duplex boning.

The corset has a separate busk front fastening which is attached to elastic panels. Once this had been fastened, the wearer would lace the front panel to give the desired support. This was not, however, a popular design.

Symington not only produced garments from their factory in Market Harborough. In 1922, an Australian branch of the business was opened and items, such as this corset, were made directly for the expanding overseas markets.
