Title
L1006 - Contractors' 0-6-0 saddletank locomotive, CLIFTONVILLE.
Description
L1006 - Hunslet Engine Co. 0-6-0 saddletank, CLIFTONVILLE, (No. 165) of 1876. According to S. W. A. Newton's photographic record, the image was taken 'Between Alpha Road and Regents Canal' near Marylebone in London on 10th March 1897. Note that the engine has been cut down for working under restricted clearances. The loco was working on Contract No. 7 - the Canfield Place to Marylebone section built by J. T. Firbank. Six workers and a small boy surround the locomotive, three of them probably navvies.
