Description
L1002 - Manning Wardle & Co. 'M' class contractor's locomotive, 0-6-0 saddletank, LEVENSHULME, (No. 1113) of 1889. The locomotive is seen near Cosby in Leicestershire on 12th June 1897, working on Contract No. 3 - the Aylestone to Rugby section built by Topham, Jones & Railton. LEVENSHULME previously worked on the Manchester Ship Canal contract. The locomotive is working backwards and the three members of the crew stand on and around the engine.
