Title
Anne of Cleve's House
Description
Anne of Cleve's House on Burton Street, Melton Mowbray. St Mary's church is in the background. The building was originally constructed in the late 15th/early 16th centuries, and was used as a chantry priest's house. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries the house passed to Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII's chancellor. After he fell out of favour his properties were given to Anne of Cleve, Henry's divorced wife.
