Title
L2484 - Brackley viaduct, Northamptonshire
Description
L2484 - A fine view of the completed Great Central viaduct that carried the London Extension across the Ouse valley at Brackley, Northamptonshire. At 755 feet (230 metres) long, this 22 arch structure was one of the Railway's most significant engineering achievements. Note the double girder span and large buttress on the right of the picture: beds of moving clay encountered during the viaduct's construction led engineers to convert these final three brick arches to produce greater stability.
