Old Vehicle - 1905 15 h.p. White Steam Car
Description
The original owner was William Byerley Paget of Southfield, Loughborough. It is described as a 15h.p. White Steam Car, with a tonneau body painted green with black stripes. The weight of the vehicle was 18cwt. It was originally used as a private vehicle and was first registered on 27 March 1905. It was later registered to Liberty & Co Ltd of Regent St., London W. on 28 April 1909. A van body with sheet metal cover was added which was removable if required, and the vehicle was used for trade purposes. [Thanks to Clive Chandler at the Record Office, Wigston, for tracing the registration]

William Byerley Paget was High Sheriff of Leicestershire in 1890. He was later a magistrate in Loughborough and lived at Southfield, Leicester Road. In 1911, he and his wife and daughter lived there with a staff of eight servants.
