L1386 - Looking south at Perry Road girder overbridge, New Basford, Nottingham, circa 1897. Beyond this simple structure, construction of the line continues in earnest. Logan & Hemingway was the contractor responsible for building this section of the London Extension (Contract No.1 Annesley to Leake). The photograph is a fine illustration of the engineer's mission to keep the gradient to a minimum, as an embankment follows a deep cutting.
