Title
L1392 - Stone crusher near Swithland, Leicestershire
Description
L1392 - A rather ramshackle looking 'Stone breaker and mortar mill' (S. W. A. Newton's notes), located in the vicinity of Swithland in Leicestershire. The stone crusher itself is the item with the two flywheels on either side and it would have been driven by a steam engine inside the wooden shed. The crushed stone would then come down the chute beneath the flywheels and pour into a waiting wagon on the siding besides the structure. The plant was being used by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton, who built this section of line between East Leake and Aylestone.
