Title
L1393 - J. T. Firbank's yard, London
Description
L1393 - Panoramic view of J. T. Firbank's yard, in use during the construction of Contract No. 7 - Canfield Place to Marylebone. In the yard are four rakes of mineral wagons, one of which is fully loaded (second row from the right). Each wagon has 'JOSEPH T. FIRBANK, LONDON' painted on the side, along with the wagon's number. In the distance on the left is a steam excavator, or steam navvy, at work loading the wagons. The area in the rear of the picture is quite built up, suggesting it is close to the centre of London.
