Title
L3087 - Metropolitan bridge and contractor's yard at Quainton
Description
L3087 - This photograph was taken at a contractor's yard near Quainton Road Junction, the point at which the Last Main Line joined the existing route of the Metropolitan Railway prior to entering London. On the left is the brick arch bridge that spanned the Metropolitan: the Great Central built a brick and girder bridge along side this to carry the road across their Last Main Line. The yard itself would have been operated by Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the firm responsible for building this section of the railway (Contract No.6, Brackley to Quainton Road).
