Title
L3083 - Girder bridge and culvert near Grendon Underwood
Description
L3083 - Thought to have been photographed in July 1896, this is the interesting arrangement that existed at the Great Central embankment half a mile south of Grendon Underwood Junction. Here, a brick arch culvert ran beneath a plate girder occupation bridge, with a gate on either side to provide a farmer with access to their land. The man standing beside the brick ends of the parapet provides a sense of scale to this handsome yet imposing structure.
