Title
L1243 - Viaduct construction at Brackley
Description
L1243 - Looking south at navvies constructing the viaduct at Brackley, Northamptonshire, circa 1897. The viaduct was part of Contract No. 6 (Brackley to Quainton Road) built by Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne. The men are 'placing wood in position' (S. W. A. Newton's notes). The photograph is a good illustration of the contractor's rails; laid with great speed and little accuracy.
