Title
L3141 - Navvies and bridge construction
Description
L3141 - Four navvies pose for Newton's camera at an intriguing scene of bridge construction. Generally, it was far simpler for the permanent brick wing walls to be built before the embankment arrived. There is little sign of a permanent structure here though, and timber piling has been used to hold back the spoil, with heavy beams being employed to form a strong temporary span to carry a well laid section of contractor's railway. It is not known where this picture was taken.
