Title
L2946 - Girder bridge at the site of Whetstone Station
Description
L2946 - A small group pause for Newton's camera beneath the double span girder bridge that carried the London Extension into Whetstone Station, Leicestershire. Two separate spans were required because the twin tracks of the main line split to pass either side of the station's single island platform. The wing walls are almost completed, and the two sections of timber scaffolding that have been erected under the girders would most likely have been removed soon after this picture was taken.
