Title
L2977 - Culvert and embankment
Description
L2977 - Thought to have been taken in Northamptonshire, this is the view looking down from an embankment towards the end of a brick culvert. Rivers and canals were invariably negotiated with bridges and viaducts, but the Last Main Line engineers employed modest culverts such as this one to accommodate the countless streams and tributaries that lay across the route. Note the animal crossing or watering place on the narrow ditch running across the field.
