Title
L1301 - Cutting and retaining walls, London
Description
L1301 - Cutting and retaining wall at Albion Road, Kilburn to West Hampstead, London. The photograph was taken circa 1897. J.T. Firbank was the contractor who built this section of the Railway (Contract No.7). Although these tracks are being used during construction, they are not the temporary contractor's rails that are usually seen. They are most likely the permanent way of the Metropolitan Railway, and the building work in progress is probably the widening of this cutting in order for Great Central metals to be laid alongside.
