Title
L1325 - Temporary crossing, hut and signal.
Description
L1325 - A temporary crossing over the new railway near Cosby Hill in Leicestershire. The crossing is protected by gates which are manned by a navvy, who has a wooden hut as a shelter. Outside the hut and to the right is a temporary wooden semaphore signal that uses a very simple pivot mechanism to operate the arms. The navvy in question stands outside the hut, leaning on hand on the door. The line through Cosby formed part of Contract No. 3 (Aylestone to Rugby), built by Topham, Jones & Railton between 1894 and 1899.
