Description
L3000 - This Victorian studio portrait was taken during the nineteenth century, and is not an original photograph by S. W. A. Newton. However, during his repeated expeditions along the Last Main Line, Newton regularly ventured into the rural communities that existed close to the route. Here, presumably at the request of a friend or relative, he often took a photographic copy of an existing picture. Undertaking such work almost certainly helped Newton to offset the costs of his journeys.
