Title
L3281 - South Harrow Station
Description
L3281 - This girder overbridge was located at South Harrow on the Neasden to Northolt line, a section of railway built by T. Oliver & Son between 1901-1905 to connect the Great Western & Great Central Joint Line with that operated by the Metropolitan & Great Central Joint Committee. The structure is relatively unusual in so far as it has two permanent supports: the weight of a girder bridge is normally taken only by the abutments. A line of three-plank drop side wagons can be seen on the right of the picture, while a temporary water tower built to supply the contractor's locomotives can be seen on the left.
