Title
L1164 - Junction of GCR - E&W Jct. Railways
Description
L1164 - The junction of the GCR and the E&WJ (later to become S&MJ) railways at Woodford Halse, Northamptonshire. The junction was created as part of Contract No 5 (Woodford to Brackley) awarded to Walter Scott & Co. of Newcastle upon Tyne. The photograph, taken c1897, shows the GCR partially finished and sweeping in from the right to join the existing E&WJ line. A row of small freight wagons is seen stationary on the E&WJ tracks. The area in the distance was to become the site of the Woodford & Hinton Station (later called Woodford Halse)
