Title
L1166 - Three-Arch Viaduct
Description
L1166 - The newly constructed Gordon Road three-arch viaduct in High Wycombe, sometime around 1903. This large skew structure is finished, but the embankment to the right still awaits dressing and a pair of navvies can be seen next to the parapet wall on the right-hand side. This section of line was part of the Great Western & Great Central Joint Railway, and was built by Pauling & Co. of Westminster. The bridge carrying the old Great Western Railway can be seen through the central arch of the viaduct. Note the well dressed people posing for Newton's camera and the electric street light.
