Description
L1039 - Manning Wardle 0-6-0 saddletank of unknown date, photographed when working on Contract No. 2 (East Leake to Aylestone) built by Henry Lovatt of Wolverhampton between 1894 and 1899. The driver stands in the cab of the locomotive, with the fireman on the front bufferbeam. Leaning against the side of the engine is a bearded gentleman in a bowler hat who could possibly be the foreman. The locomotive is coupled to a tipping wagon.
