Title
L2775 - South portal of Kirkby tunnel
Description
L2775 - Photographed looking along a rock cutting in April 1897, this is the southern portal of Kirkby tunnel, a point close to where the London Extension began its journey south to the capital. The picture suggests that this section of the line is almost ready for traffic, even though it would be a further two years before the first passenger service left Marylebone.
