L1053 - Contractors' 0-6-0 saddletank locomotive, FRANK.
Description
L1053 - 0-6-0 contractor's saddletank locomotive, FRANK, at rest with a member of her crew at Willoughby, Warwickshire, circa 1897. The engine was built by the Hunslet Engine Co. in 1876 (No. 161). T. Oliver & Son was the firm contracted to build this section of the railway (Contract No. 4 - Rugby to Woodford). The gentleman dressed in a suit and bowler hat standing next to the engine is possibly a contractors' inspector or just an observer.
