Title
L2819 - Bridge stanchions at Nottingham Victoria
Description
L2819 - Photographed around 1898 during the construction of Nottingham Victoria, these imposing iron stanchions are thought to be the supports for York Street bridge, a short structure that ran almost parallel with the tracks before turning left to head over the railway via the Union Road bridge. Taking shape on the right of the picture is one the station's platforms, and in the foreground are two more of the brick and stone plinths that are shortly to support a girder of their own.
