Title
L2839 - Constructing a brick arch bridge near Shawell
Description
L2839 - Photographed during the early stages of construction, these are the brick piers of a three arch overbridge that crossed the London Extension south of the Shawell to Churchover road, Leicestershire. Lying on the opposite bank of the cutting are some of the wooden centrings that would later be placed between the piers to provide the shape of the arches. On the left, a line of wagons waits on the contractor's temporary railway.
