Title
Liberty high-waisted zipped semi step-in, 1952: Back view
Description
Back view of a Liberty high-waisted zipped semi step-in of 1952. This tea rose pink girdle is made from nylon, cotton and rubber elastic net. It features a front panel made from a type of nylon known as sharkskin.

This girdle contains many features that influenced future designs. These include:-

* an enammelled metal zip, lined with plush fabric, with a hook and eye underneath to off-set strain.
* a rigid, shaped front panel with light boning which supports without restricting.
* a slightly higher waist for better control of the diaphragm.
* a back panel of elastic net, rather than the satin elastic or elastic batiste previously used.
understraps which have been lined with plush fabric to avoid any chafing of the thigh.
