Title
L2430 - South portal of Thurland Street tunnel, Nottingham
Description
L2430 - Two lines of poorly laid contractor's railway converge prior to entering the roughly hewn southern portal of Thurland Street tunnel, circa 1896. This narrow opening is merely a pilot bore: eventually the tunnel would be wide enough to accommodate two lines of permanent way. Logan & Hemingway was the firm contracted to build this section of the Railway (Contract No.1, Annesley to Leake).
