Title
Zip front girdle, 1933: Back view
Description
Back view of a girdle of pink broche made in 1933. It is one of the earliest experiments in using a zip fastening. It is designed to completely unfasten down the centre front by a unique, detachable metal slide fastener.

It is supported by steel boning, and has elasticated panels. The zip is supported down each side by heavy flat steel, with spiral steels used to support the rest of the garment. The girdle features elastic panels down each side and at the centre front. Four suspenders are attached to the bottom of the garment.
