Title
L2458 - Temporary bridge and cutting south of Hucknall, Nottinghamshire
Description
L2458 - Photographed south of Hucknall around 1897, this excellent picture shows railway construction in earnest. A temporary footbridge spans a roughly hewn cutting, whilst a steam powered crane is at work on a single line of contractor's rails. The purpose of the considerable hole that has been excavated on the left side of the would-be trackbed is sadly unknown.
