Title
L2465 - Girder bridge spanning the permanent way at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire
Description
L2465 - This is the plate girder overbridge that was built to carry Annesley Road across the London Extension at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. The building that is visible beneath the bridge is a locomotive shed, a temporary structure that was erected to house the contractor's engines used by Logan & Hemingway, the firm responsible for building this section of the Line (Annesley to Leake). Note that the final layer of ballast has not yet been packed over the sleepers of the permanent way.
