Title
L2467 - Navvies hoisting girders at St. Augustine Street, Leicester
Description
L2467 - These navvies are at work on St. Augustine Street, Leicester, busy hoisting girders during construction of the city's long viaduct. Visible on the left of the picture is one of the viaduct's brick abutments. Note the large pile of bricks on the rear of the hoisting machinery that are being used as a counterweight, thus preventing the machine from tipping or sliding.
