Title
L2469 - Whetstone Station, Leicestershire
Description
L2469 - Thought to have been photographed around 1899, this is the Great Central station at Whetstone, Leicestershire. The station was built to a standard pattern that was replicated at most of the Line's smaller stations. Passengers would emerge onto the single 'island' platform from the covered staircase on the left, which in this case led down from the Station Street road bridge. At the centre of the picture, a man stands at the ticket office. The building on the right is the waiting room, and on the far edge of the picture is the station's toilet block.
