Title
L2485 - Culvert and contractor's wagons at Birstall, Leicester
Description
L2485 - This photograph was taken around 1897 at a brick culvert near Greengate Lane, Birstall. Written on the side of the wagons laden with hardcore is the name of the contractor who built this section of the Line: Henry Lovatt & Co. of Wolverhampton. Note the quality of these temporary tracks - for contractor's rails they have been very well laid and maintained.
