Description
L2305 - This handsome girder underbridge, situated just south of Braunstone Gate bridge, carried the Last Main Line over the Old River Soar. The structure, built by Henry Lovatt & Co. as part of Contract No.2 (Leake to Aylestone), formed part of the long viaduct that brought the railway across the heart of the old city to Leicester Goods Yard and Carriage Sidings. Note the lattice work iron parapet: a typical feature of the London Extension.
