Title
Suspender brassiere, 1937: Detail of lace
Description
Detail of ecru needlerun lace from woman's brassiere of 1937. The lace was lined in cotton net. The design enjoyed limited success in the 1930s before being discontinued by the end of the decade.

Model suspender brassiere in ecru needlerun lace lined with fine cotton net. These brassieres were first introduced in the early 1930s, but achieved only limited success. The design was discontinued in 1939.

Shaped at the front with darts and seeming, the brassiere finishes in deep points to which long, narrow, adjustable suspenders are attached. The garment fastens at the centre back by hooks and eyes attached to an elastic inset. The ribbon shoulder straps are not adjustable.
