L2340 - This interesting picture of the Great Northern Railway's station at Belgrave Road, Leicester, is a combination of both photograph and painting. Using a popular Victorian technique, the assembled group of railway staff are doubtless a faithful presentation of a photographic image, whilst the station that surrounds them has been painted over. At the heart of the scene is a handsome steam locomotive designed by Patrick Stirling.
